Our apartment is not only an ideal place for a summer holiday by the sea and the pool; the surrounding region offers much more. The Costa del Sol area is known as the "Coast of the Sun", which means you can enjoy pleasant conditions for exploring and excursions practically all year round.
Forget the stereotype of a summer-only holiday. The advantage of the Costa del Sol is that, thanks to the proximity of the calm Mediterranean Sea, temperature extremes rarely occur throughout the year. While temperatures may occasionally approach 40 °C in the summer, such days are minimal.
In spring and autumn, temperatures stay around a pleasant 20-25 °C, which is ideal for walks, hiking, and discovering historic towns without the crowds and sweltering heat. Even in winter, the climate remains mild, with temperatures rarely falling below 15 °C, instead often rising to a beautiful 20 °C during the day.
January weather on the Costa del Sol invites hiking and sports, which are the best activities with temperatures around 19 °C. In terms of precipitation, January is an average month, and it rains about every third day, mostly in the form of showers.
February on the Costa del Sol welcomes visitors with temperatures around 20 °C and the beginning of spring, when many flowers start to bloom and the landscape changes from brownish-green to fresh green. Rainfall in February is similar to January, appearing most often as showers roughly every 3rd to 4th day.
By the end of March, spring is already in full swing and the streets are flooded with flower beds. Temperatures rise to 21 °C and rainfall slowly decreases, which will certainly not affect your holiday. Small clouds drift across the sky, and the sun will shine for most of the day.
April on the Costa del Sol is a typically spring month. Nature is freshly green and saturated with winter precipitation, which, however, decreases significantly in April. Common daytime temperatures hover around 23 °C and invite exploration of the city and trips to the surroundings.
May weather is already typically summery for residents of the temperate zone. Common temperatures move around the 26 °C mark, the sun shines all day, and clouds or rain are only rare phenomena. During May, the main flowering period for Jacaranda trees begins. The sea is still quite cold in May, and the maximum water temperature is around 20 °C.
June on the Costa del Sol is the first typically summer month suitable for swimming. In the second half of the month, the sea water starts to warm up and air temperatures regularly exceed 30 °C. The chance of extreme heat in June is very small, so it is still an ideal month for trips to the surroundings. It rains only exceptionally.
July is the hottest month of the year with average temperatures around 33 °C, and you can be sure that not even a few drops of rain will fall on you. The sea is already beautifully warmed up, and nothing prevents beach fun. By the coast, the air is cooled by a pleasant breeze; on trips inland, unpleasant heat awaits you.
Weather in August differs little from July. Thanks to temperatures over 32 °C, August is also the main beach season; only here and there (usually 1-2 times a month) does a heat thunderstorm appear. A seaside holiday is pleasant thanks to the refreshing wind, but on trips inland, the scorching heat will hit you.
September is still a typically summer month with temperatures around 30 °C and a sea beautifully warmed from the summer. The advantage is a noticeably smaller number of tourists and also a slightly more friendly climate inland, which is, however, the driest of the entire year. Rain is a completely rare phenomenon, and most days you will enjoy sunny weather.
October weather on the Costa del Sol still invites a summer holiday. Average temperatures hover around 26 °C, with temperatures regularly over 30 °C at the beginning of October. The sea water cools down more slowly than the air and is thus nicely warmed from the summer – the average temperature is about 22 °C. Rainfall occurs more often than in summer, but it is mostly just showers appearing approx. every 4th day.
November temperatures around 22 °C invite city tourism and trips around the area. Statistically, November is the wettest month of the year, but there is also about 3x more sunshine than in the temperate climate zone during the same period. Prepare for heavier showers roughly every 3rd day.
December on the Costa del Sol is the month with the shortest sunshine, which is logical given that the sun sets after 6 PM. Even so, you will encounter the sun during the day most days of the month; expect showers roughly every 3rd day and temperatures around 20 °C.
